12-13 March, 2008 Dr. R.C. Goyal delivered a presentation on the ‘NISAGENET - A new initiative on Information in Agriculture Education’ at the National Seminar on Dairy Education organised by Dairy Science College at NDRI, Karnal during 12-13 March 2008 to celebrate its 50th Golden Jubilee.
19th February, 2008 A meeting was held on 19-02-2008 which was attended by the PI and associates of the project. The future action plan of the project was discussed in the meeting.
1st January, 2008 For maintenance and regular updation of data from participating organizations in NISAGENET, a new project ‘National Information System on Agricultural Education Network in India (NISAGENET II)’ has been taken up at the Institute and which has been started from 01-01-2008.
31st December, 2007 The project was completed on 31-12-2007 as scheduled. The final report of the NISAGENET project has been accepted by the competent authority.
19-20 December, 2007 An Awareness Workshop on NISAGENET was organized at IASRI, New Delhi during 19-20 December 2007. Nodal Officers of the participating organizations, their associates and the scientists of the division of Computer Applications attended the workshop. Dr. R.C. Goyal presented the main features of the NISAGENET during the workshop. The observations of the Nodal Officers were recorded and future programmes were discussed.
16th November 2007 The final project completion seminar was delivered on 16th November 2007 by Dr. R.C. Goyal at IASRI, New Delhi.
27th April, 2007 A brochure on NISAGENET has been prepared and printed. Final report of the project has been submitted to ICAR.
18th May, 2007 The progress of the project was reviewed on 18th May 2007 by Dr. S.P. Tiwari, DDG (Education), ICAR, New Delhi. An online demonstration on NISAGENET was presented wherein it was observed from the reports generated through the system that data entry work is incomplete for some of the participating organizations. There is a strong need to expedite the entry and validation of the desired data along with regular uploads from the university.
27th April, 2007Dr. R.C. Goyal, Principal Investigator of NISAGENET delivered an open seminar on 27th April 2007 in the auditorium of computer centre building of IASRI. The capabilities of NISAGENET were presented and the suggestions of the audience have been incorporated in the system.

Nisagenet
The National Information System on Agricultural Education Network in India (NISAGENET) portal is being maintained at the Central Server of IASRI, New Delhi to provide Country/State/University/College level reporting on agricultural education in India. On recommendations of the National Statistical Commission (NSC) and the Department of Secondary & Higher Education of the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India, the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) approved NISAGENET project under its AP Cess Fund Scheme for a period of three years (01-01-2005 to 31-12-2007). With the support and supervision of the Education Division of ICAR, New Delhi, this project is being executed by the Indian Agricultural Statistics Research Institute (IASRI), New Delhi as Lead Center having collaboration with universities involved in imparting higher agricultural education in India. In view of the importance of NISAGENET, ICAR has given approval for its execution and to maintain it as a regular ongoing activity of the council and it is mandatory for all the SAUs, AUs, Central Universities and Deemed Universities of ICAR to participate and provide the data as per requirements of this system. The major activities and the technical programme of the project are as follows:
• Collection and compilation of data on Agricultural Education • Designing, Development and Implementation of NISAGENET software on the Internet • Country/State/University/College level reporting • To add and include newly established and left over agricultural universities
The NISAGENET lays emphasis on providing a unified information base for collection, compilation and analysis of information about the activities of the agricultural education system in India. Under NISAGENET broadly the information on Academic, Infrastructural facilities, Budget provision, Manpower and Research & Development activities of all the AU’s and Deemed universities of ICAR along with their constituent/affiliated colleges would be collected, compiled and integrated at the country level.
